What is Digital Literacy?

Simply put: Digital Literacy is the ability to understand and use information in multiple formats from a wide range of sources when it is presented via computers

Most of us are linear thinking and wedded to the printed page, but our students deal quite comfortably with the high tech reality of today.

What are the skills needed to be "digitally literate"?

1. to critically evaluate and interpret text, sound, links, images and place in context of other sources
This is probably the most important!

2. to understand the complexity of this multiple media
We do this when we teach PowerPoint, Photo Shop, Word, Excel, etc.

3. to create and use these competencies
Students are "intellectual property owners" of the information they produce
